Content ideas for April

A new month is here…but with every day feeling much like the last at the minute you’d be forgiven for not noticing! The Covid-19 situation might leave you at a bit of a loss for content ideas, but there’s still plenty going on and a lot to talk about, you might just need to put a new spin on things.

Here are some ideas for posts and activities that you could use to engage your customers and audiences this month.

Have you had to change how you do business to cope with social distancing? Why not do a behind the scenes post, give insights into your processes or ‘a day in the life of’ type post. We are all inherently nosy and we love to see behind closed doors!

Maybe you’re offering your services in a different way or helping people bridge the gap until they can get to you again? Even if you’ve had to stop working for now, don’t forget you can still give value online! Perhaps you could give a tutorial on your top tips. If you’re a decorator, how can people get those impossible straight edges? If you’re a beautician, how can people safely remove their acrylics?

Every month brings us a whole host of national events and awareness campaigns that provide great opportunities for you to join wider conversations and show people different aspects of your business.

  • Stress Awareness Month – a big one for all of us right now! How are you managing your stress and protecting your mental health? Or that of your staff and colleagues?
  • National Pet Month – do you or your family or colleagues have any pets you can showcase and talk about?
  • April 3 – Find a rainbow day – this is a great one with children posting rainbows in their windows to inspire hope during the lockdown, and the new NHS Nightingale Hospital appealing for rainbow pictures to decorate the wards.
  • April 4-11 – Smart Money Week – a lot of people are finding it tough financially, can you offer any advice or support?
  • April 14 – International Moment of Laughter Day
  • April 21 – National Tea Day – I’ll definitely be celebrating this one!
  • April 27-May 3 – National Gardening Week – here’s one we can all get involved in!
  • April 29 – Honesty Day

That’s certainly enough to get you started, and if you’re still stuck for how to get the words flowing, I’m always happy to help!
