Another month is upon us and that means content planning! June brings with it a whole host of inspirational themes and events that can drive your content, either for your social channels, website or meetings. The fun is in being creative to ensure you are using wider events in a relevant way!
We’ve are been thinking slightly more outside of the box in terms of connecting with audiences and continuing to do business, and right now the content you are putting out is key. Firstly that you continue to do it even if things feel different to before, and second that you keep reviewing it to ensure you are delivering value to your readers.
So, let’s dive in! June brings us continued good weather (hopefully), and with it the promise of more outdoor activities; BBQs, picnics, and even socially distanced meetings with a few family and friends. All of this provides ideas for what you can write or talk about.
Spend some time thinking about your business at this time of year too; are there seasonal themes, events or trends you can discuss? Do people ask you for particular services or products in warmer weather? This tells you what kind of information people find useful, so make sure you use it!
As well as all this, there are lots of events happening this month that give us the opportunity to maximise those hashtags and be part of a wider conversation. Here are some of them:
- Throughout June: Pride month, SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) awareness month, Bowel Cancer Step Up for 30 month
- June 1: Garden Wildlife Week, Child Safety Week
- June 6: Bike Week, The Big Lunch (this is a brilliant event aimed at connecting communities – what better time than now?!)
- June 8: Carers Week, National Best Friends Day (we can ALL do something with this one!)
- June 13: World Gin Day, Cupcake Day
- June 14: World Blood Donor Day, Adult Learners Day
- June 15: Cervical Screening Awareness Week, Loneliness Awareness Week, Learning Disabilities Week, Men’s Health Week, National Beer Day
- June 17: Plastic-free Beauty Day

- June 20: World Refugee Day
- June 21: Father’s Day
- June 23: Public Service Day (started by the UN, a day to recognise those working in public service roles across the country)
- June 24: National Writing Day (I’ll be marking this one!), Swim a Lap Day
- June 27: Armed Forces Day
- June 29: Children’s Art Week
There are many more than this list, although that’s plenty to be getting on with for now! There are a number of great websites which help you keep track of events for the UK and beyond, so plenty of ideas for your content this month. Enjoy!
